Ash is a basic crafting material. It is what remains after most things burn.
It's mainly used to craft Healing Salves.
Obtaining[]
Here's a list of every possible way to obtain Ash:
- After an Inventory Item has finished burning (x1 for each item in the stack)
- After an object that isn't a Structure (such as a plant) has finished burning (x1)
- When a Mob, Spider Den, Bee Hive or Killer Bee Hive is killed while on fire, any regular loot it would drop is replaced by Ash instead, except if:
- The loot is a cookable food item (in which case it would drop as its cooked version)
- The loot has the irreplaceable tag
- The Mob has the tree tag
- After a Campfire or Endothermic Fire goes out (x1)
- Destroying a Fire Pit or Endothermic Fire Pit (x1)
- After a Webbed Blue Mushtree has finished burning (x1)
- After a Tumbleweed has finished burning (x1)
- Possible drop from a friendly Catcoon vomiting (x1)
- Touching a Spiky Bush (burnt) (x1)
- After setting a Mushroom Planter on fire (x1 for every mushroom on it, if it had any)
- After an End Table has finished burning (x1, only if it had any plant in it)
- Destroying a burnt Gobbler Shrine (x1, only if it had any berry bush in it)
- Destroying a burnt Winter's Feast Tree (x1, only if it had any planted sapling in it)
- After a Player Skeleton vanishes because the cap has been reached (x1)
- From a Lavae Tooth vanishing after its Extra-Adorable Lavae dies (x1)
- Inside the Chest of a "Dead Beefalo Pen" Set Piece (x10)
Food[]
Ash's Food type is Burnt, meaning the following Mobs are able to eat it: Extra-Adorable Lavae.
However, Playable Characters can't eat it.
Haunting[]
- Main article: Haunting
When haunted by a Player Ghost, Ash will disappear.
Additional notes[]
If left on the ground for 25-35 seconds, Ash will disappear.
Moleworms are interested in Ash, attempting to go after it to steal it.
